Position Description

ICIC is a national partner on Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB), a program designed to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunities by providing access to education, capital, and business support services. ICIC is responsible for managing and advising on outreach, application, and selection processes across all locations.  

Job Description

The Associate, Data Strategy will provide research-focused analytical, technological, and process-related support on the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.  In addition to leading and promoting our economic and outreach advising, the Associate will be asked to specific 10KSB local sites and identify data-focused methods for reaching under-resourced small business owners. The position offers the opportunity for increased responsibility and exposure to external stakeholders including the Goldman Sachs Foundation and Babson College. Core responsibilities may include:

  • Developing small business recruitment strategies based on program data, market research, and best practices.
  • Analyzing data on small business applicants and participants and presenting key findings and economic research reports to funder and program partners.
  • Managing program CRM systems and internal databases.
  • Coordinating and managing outreach, recruitment, application, and selection with external partners for multiple program sites.
  • Geocode mapping and building ecosystem analyses for local sites.
  • Staying abreast of publicly available small business data and research to inform and support programmatic outreach goals.


The successful candidate is a highly organized self-starter with experience providing data analysis, research, and reporting. This candidate will be inspired by the work that we do at ICIC and passionate about supporting small businesses.

  • A bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years of work experience or minimum 6 years work experience equivalent, with some prior experience in economic research or data-based work.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
    • For example, experience analyzing large datasets using Excel and Salesforce to develop data-backed strategies.
  • Excellent oral and presentation skills
    • For example, experience presenting data trends and strategy recommendations to external partners.
  • Experience working with online communications platforms such as Zoom, Slack, and/or Whereby
  • A team player inclination: collaborative, solutions-oriented, and excited to work with other team members or across departments.
  • Experience building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks; flexible with evolving priorities. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with GIS, Salesforce, and Adobe Acrobat Pro a plus.
